Based in Oakland, Interfaith Movement is a statewide organization that empowers congregations to put faith into action on immigration issues. Through this partnership, our NCC team has been accompanying two Guatemalan sisters—celebrating birthdays, enjoying outings together, and offering practical support with connection to local resources, moving to secure housing, asylum applications, and legal representation. Our community is facing a growing hunger crisis, fueled by grocery price inflation, the recent government shutdown and pause in CalFresh (SNAP) benefits, and lingering financial impacts of the pandemic. We believe Second Harvest is uniquely equipped to meet this moment through its extensive food distribution network of over 400 partners operating more than 900 sites across San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
